Book of Love (cover) - Robin Pecknold from Live
Live cover of Robin Pecknold singing “Book of Love”
I played this at my wedding and would have made it our song if there were dancing and a better version without the cheering at the end lol

Simon Emmerson’s ‘Weirdy Birdy’ Mix. Corncrake Studios, West Dorset. 11/10/10 by Folk Radio Uk on Mixcloud
There isn’t any one song that I could say that I love, but the entire playlist as a whole is an experience in itself. HIGHLY recommended if you love folk music!
What He Wrote - Laura Marling from I Speak Because I Can
Laura Marling’s beautiful song of love and loss.
I was introduced to The Imagined Village by carvedantlers. This song is so many levels of awesome, I don’t even know. Seriously. It’s obviously irish folk-based, but the little bits of indian folk and modern beats just makes Mermaid one of the most amazing cross-genre folk songs out there. Of course, The Imagined Village has quite a few more songs that are on par, but I do love Mermaid the best. Mostly because it’s nearly entirely instrumental and secondly because when the chorus does chime in, I always get the chills!

Quelqu'un M'a Dit - Carla Bruni from Quelqu'un M'a Dit
Carla Bruni is..or well..was, the First Lady of France. She was also a model and a very talented singer and this song was featured in500 Days of Summer. Personally, even though she seems all over the place, I really do love her voice and the quiet summery melody she offers.
She's so high - Yoko Kanno from Turn a Gundam OST II [DIANNA & KIHEL]
Alright well, Yoko Kanno is a god. A god of composing amazing soundtrack music (and any music really). Some of her best works are from the Turn-A-Gundam OSTs and she is so incredibly skilled with chorus vocals and instrumentals. Language ain’t no barrier for Ms. Kanno, she makes her own language if need be!
A Wish in the Well - DJ BAHLER
This guy can really mash. Like, unbelievable stuff. Normally something that would horrify you, like say, mashing super poppy candy floss like Carly Rae Jepson’s Call Me? Maybe? with Bon Iver’s Blood Bank. Who would’ve thought. I highly recommend at least a listen. He’s pretty good at mashing things that should not be mashed…and actually make it bearable!
Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 I: Moderato - Rachmaninov
I actually must say this piece was possibly got me completely hooked onto classical music. Rachmaninov, in my humble opinion, is the peak of the romantic movement and this piece just sounds like such a sorrowful love story that I get the chills just listening to it!
My absolute favourite part after the opening is at -5:30
Seriously, listen to it. Now.
It’s like melting stones. Heavy, bittersweet and mellow.
King and Lionheart - Of Monsters and Men from My Head Is an Animal
Of Monsters and Men are a fairly new indie band that I ended up following on Twitter after they randomly added me onto their “follow” list. I gave them a shot since my friends liked their music and I will say, I’m glad I did!
King and Lionheart is so incredibly adorable.
I’d dedicate this song to my high school sweetheart. If I had one.. :’(
